What Does Your Shop Actually Offer?

Not all shops are the same. Here's what comes standard with every service at My Awesome Detailer LLC. When you call another shop, check the boxes to see if they can say the same.

How it works: Our column is already checked. When you call another shop, ask about each item and check their box if they offer it.

99% infrared (IR) heat rejection ceramic film
Not all ceramic film is the same. Carbon film only rejects around 50% of heat. Standard ceramic is 85-88%. Even other premium ceramics top out around 95%. Ours rejects up to 99% of infrared heat. Ask them what their actual IR rejection percentage is — even good shops usually aren't this high.
One-piece rear window install (no seams or splice lines across the back glass)
A lot of shops will splice the rear window into two or three pieces because it's quicker. That leaves visible seam lines running across the glass. We do it as one piece so it looks completely clean. Ask them if they do the back glass in one piece or multiple strips.
Gapless top edges (no visible light gaps)
When you roll the window down, you don't want to see a gap between the film and the top edge of the glass — even a tight gap looks off. We bring the film right to the edge so it's perfectly uniform when the window is down. Most shops leave at least a small gap. Ask to see an example of their finished work with the window rolled down.
Heat-sealed edges for durability
After installation, we heat-seal the edges of the film. This locks the adhesive in place and keeps the edges from peeling or lifting over time, especially around the bottom of the window.
Glass coated to help prevent chips & cracks
We apply a protective coating to the glass itself that helps it resist chips and small cracks from road debris. Most shops don't do this at all — ask them if they coat the glass or just apply the film.
Immediately roll-down ready (zero cure/wait time)
Most shops tell you not to roll your windows down for 3 to 5 days after tinting. Our install process means you can roll them down immediately when you leave. Ask them how long you have to wait.
Lifetime no-fault guarantee (covers YOU, not just defects)
Most shops say "lifetime warranty" but here's what that usually means: if you damage the tint, you're out of luck. If your tint isn't 100% state-legal, the manufacturer won't cover it at all. And even when it IS a proven defect, the manufacturer just sends the shop a new roll of film — what happens after that is up to the shop. Our no-fault guarantee covers you regardless. In writing.
Lifetime warranty on the film itself
This is separate from the no-fault guarantee above. The film itself is warrantied for life against fading, bubbling, and peeling. But remember — a lot of "lifetime warranties" just get the installer a replacement roll. Ask them exactly what their warranty covers, what it doesn't, and what happens if you need to use it.

Are they a certified, accredited installer — or using products anyone can buy online?
It's not just about cheap Amazon coatings. Even well-known brands like Gtechniq, CCI, or Cerakote can be bought right off their website by anyone. Our coating line requires formal training and accreditation before a shop can even order the product. Ask them: does your coating brand require you to be certified to purchase and install it?
Top 40 select installer in our national coating network
Out of every installer in our coating brand's network, we're ranked in the top 40. That means we've proven our work at a level most shops haven't reached. Ask them where they rank.
Self-healing coating on every package we offer
Self-healing means light scratches and swirl marks from washing disappear with heat from the sun or warm water. Not all coatings do this. Ask them if their coating is self-healing.
Written, insurance-backed national warranty — not just a verbal promise
Our warranty is backed by a third-party insurance company, not just the shop. If anything happens, you have real coverage you can claim. Ask them who backs their warranty — the shop, or an actual insurer?
Up to $5,000 in coverage you can actually claim if something goes wrong
On our top-tier packages, if the coating fails or your paint gets damaged, you're covered up to $5,000. Ask them what their dollar coverage is and if it's written into the warranty.
Written performance guarantees up to a lifetime — on paper, not a handshake
We give you a document that spells out exactly how long your coating is guaranteed to perform — up to a lifetime. A lot of shops just say "it'll last" but won't put it in writing. Ask for it on paper.
If the coating stops performing, we just take care of it — no back-and-forth, no filing claims
If your coating isn't beading or performing like it should, you don't need to file a claim or argue about it. Bring it in, we take care of it. Ask them what their process looks like if the coating stops working.
Full multi-step paint decontamination & prep before any coating is applied
A coating is only as good as the surface underneath it. We do a full decontamination and correction before we coat. Ask them what their prep process looks like — if they skip this, the coating won't bond properly.
Climate-controlled facility for proper curing — not a garage or parking lot
Coatings need controlled temperature and humidity to cure correctly. If it's too hot, too cold, or too dusty, the coating won't perform the way it should. Ask them where they apply and cure the coating.
Discounted ongoing maintenance to keep your coating performing year after year
We offer our coating customers a significant discount on annual maintenance so you're not paying full price to keep it performing. Ask them if they offer maintenance plans and what that costs.
Free mobile app (App Store & Google Play) with care training & a community
We give you access to our mobile app where you can learn exactly how to wash and maintain your coated vehicle, plus connect with other owners. Ask them what kind of aftercare support they provide.

Paint Protection Film (PPF)

Them
All edges wrapped — not just tucked or cut short at the edge of the panel
We wrap the film around the edge of the panel so it's hidden from view. Some shops stop the film right at the edge, which means you can see it and it's more likely to peel.
Custom installs — we adjust patterns to give you more coverage than the standard template
Most shops use the default computer-cut pattern and call it done. We look at the actual vehicle and edit the patterns to give you better coverage where it matters. Ask them if they modify their patterns or just use the stock template.
We minimize cutting on your actual paint — bulk pre-cut patterns protect your finish
Some installers cut film directly on your car's paint with a blade, which can leave fine scratches. We use pre-cut patterns sized to your vehicle so we rarely need to cut on the car itself.
Self-healing film — light scratches and swirls disappear on their own
The film has a top coat that self-heals with heat. If you get light scratches from washing or everyday use, they disappear on their own in the sun or with warm water. Not all PPF does this.
Film comes ceramic coated for extra gloss and water-shedding right out of the gate
Our PPF has a ceramic coating built into the top layer, so you get that glossy, water-shedding effect from day one. With other shops, that's usually a separate add-on cost. Ask them if their film includes ceramic or if that's extra.
Lifetime warranty on the film — in writing
You'll get a written warranty document that covers the film for life. Ask them how long their warranty is and whether they'll give you the paperwork for it.
Written performance guarantee — we stand behind how it performs, not just the product itself
A product warranty covers defects in the film. A performance guarantee means if it's not doing what it should — protecting, looking good, staying put — we handle it. Ask them if they guarantee the performance or just the product.
Do they remove trim panels and do disassembly to get film underneath for a cleaner finish?
We take the time to remove things like door handles, trim pieces, and mirror caps so we can tuck the film underneath for a seamless look. Many shops just work around everything, which leaves visible edges.
Do they edit and extend film patterns beyond the basic template — at no extra charge?
Standard templates from the computer leave gaps in coverage — especially around corners and tight areas. We edit those patterns to extend the film and close those gaps. Some shops charge extra for this or just don't do it at all.
Do they use up-to-date premium installation tools — or standard off-the-shelf equipment?
Better tools mean a better finish. We invest in the latest squeegees, tucking tools, and lighting to get a cleaner install. Some shops are using the same basic tools from years ago. Ask them what they're working with.
Filtered water system to prevent contamination during install
PPF installation uses a lot of water. If that water has minerals or particles in it, it can get trapped under the film. We filter our water to keep the install clean. Ask them if they use a water filtration system.
Climate-controlled facility — not installed in a hot parking lot or open garage
Heat, humidity, and dust are the enemies of a good PPF install. We work in a controlled environment. Ask them where they actually do the install — inside or outside? Air conditioned or not?

Auto Detailing

Do they have a full detailing team — or is it one person doing everything?
We have a full team dedicated to detailing. That means consistent results, proper division of work, and your vehicle gets the time and attention it deserves. A solo operation has to cut corners somewhere.
Climate-controlled facility — better for the chemicals, better for the results, safer for everyone
Detailing chemicals work best in controlled temperatures. Too hot and they dry too fast, too cold and they don't work right. A climate-controlled shop also protects you from dust landing on wet surfaces. Ask where they actually do the work.
Voted Best Automotive Detailing Shop by residents of Auburn & Opelika
The community voted us the best. That's not a self-given award — real people in Auburn and Opelika chose us. Ask the other shop if they've been voted best by anyone.
Same-day turnaround available — ask them how long yours will take
We can get most details done same-day so you're not without your vehicle. Some shops take days. Ask them straight up: "When can I get my car back?"
Multi-step process — real decontamination, correction, and protection, not just a wash and wipe
Our top-tier details include clay bar decontamination, paint correction, and protective sealants — not just a soap wash and a wipe down. Ask them to walk you through their actual process step by step.
We walk you through the finished vehicle — if anything isn't right, we fix it on the spot before you leave
We have a check-in and check-out process. When you drop off, we document everything. When you pick up, we walk you through the finished vehicle together. If anything isn't right, we fix it on the spot — no guessing, no coming back later. Ask them what their check-in and check-out process looks like.
Written guarantee on the products we apply — ask them if they'll put theirs in writing too
We guarantee the performance of every product we apply and put it in writing. A lot of shops say "yeah, it'll be fine" but won't give you anything on paper. If they won't write it down, ask yourself why.
Can they tell you exactly what products they're putting on your vehicle?
We'll tell you exactly what we're using on your car — no mystery bottles. We use top-tier products and we put written guarantees on any protective products we apply. If a shop can't tell you what they're using or won't stand behind it, that's worth knowing.
Free mobile app (App Store & Google Play) with care tips & a community
After your detail, you get access to our app with tips on how to wash your car properly, what products to use at home, and a community of other vehicle owners. Ask them what aftercare support they give you.
